Are grade-schoolers doing too much homework?
The responses varied significantly. In one 3 rd grade class with 22 students, the responses regarding how much time their child spends on homework each night had an alarming disparity. The lowest amount of time spent was 15 minutes, while the largest amount of time spent was 4 hours.
Your child is now in an Intermediate grade. Grades are earned through doing the assigned classwork and homework as well as through class participation and tests.Failing to complete homework and classwork will have an immediate adverse affect on your child’s grades.
In the fall, 4th grade’s average score on EasyCBM was 39 correct out of 45. That put us in the 80th percentile in the district. That means that we’re higher than 80% of the students in the 4J school district. Our winter average was 41 out of 45, and we moved up one percent to be in the 81st percentile. Wahoo!
Tell me why first graders need homework. having homework until probably 4th or 5th grade.. when its a long, difficult homework that the parent end. But how much homework is too. would have 10 minutes of homework each night; a fifth grader 50. effectively but it seems to be taking too long.
